checkout the latest Discovery Channel commercial for
www.elephantart.com by the very appropriately dressed Eko-Supermodel Summer Rayne Oakes. She is wearing the adorably irresistible elephant top by MIKA sold exclusively at Ekovaruhuset. 10% of the sale of this top is donated to
www.savetheelephants.org to help save these beautiful creatures. The commercial also shows the elephants painting really interesting works of art. They are really cute and quite the artists! Enjoy!

Panel Discussion
Eco-Fashion Now
Wednesday, November 14, 2007, 6-8pm
Katie Murphy Amphitheatre
Fred P. Pomerantz Art and Design Center (D building), 1st floor
Sustainable fashion is no longer a niche market concern. Beyond the current trend for organic materials, consumers are becoming more aware of the apparel industry's impact on the environment as media coverage on global warming increases. From consumer lifestyle shifts to fair trade practices, panelists will define and discuss the complex issues surrounding eco-fashion or green fashion. Julie Gilhart, senior vice president and fashion director of Barneys New York; Summer Rayne Oaks, model and sustainable business consultant; Susan Cianciolo, designer and artist;
Johanna Hofring, entrepreneur and owner of Lower East Side boutique Ekovaruhuset; and Sass Brown, professor of Fashion Design at FIT, designer and fair-trade fashion consultant, will explore this timely topic.

On April 19th, 2007,
EGBNY will present the "Project Earth Day" fashion show, an eco-friendly fashion event celebrating Earth Day.
The runway show will feature a stunning display of the latest apparel and textile designs in organic or recycled fibers, and found materials by up and coming designers. The show is co-sponsored by Teknion, o2-NYC, and Green Drinks.
In addition, several emerging fashion designers will put together small collections made from donated textiles.
Ekovaruhuset will be on both the runway show and the donated textiles exhibit.
